Reading the book

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30 pm

“If I have learned anything in this long life of mine, it is this: In love we find out who we want to be; in war we find out who we are.” (Vianne, p. 1)

Set in France in 1939, The Nightingale’s tense plot involves two sisters with differing viewpoints, Vianne and Isabelle, who gain strength, courage and endurance in the face of extreme hardship and sacrifice on behalf of others. Each sister ends up fighting the Nazi invasion in different ways. Isabelle assists allied airmen in their escapes and Vianne helps hide Jewish children. Both emphasize the important role women play during wartime and the impact of war on an ‘occupied' country.

Please join us promptly at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 16th at the home of Debbie Bernstein. To confirm your participation, please RSVP by calling Debbie at 480-221-5913 or e-mail her at debbie@eseats.com. She will provide her address and directions.
