The Debt of Tamar

Is it a twist of fate, or paying the 'debt of Tamar," when Selim Osman meets Hannah? We move through multiple storylines beginning in the 16th century period when thousands of Jewish refugees were welcomed and rescued by Ottoman rulers of the day. We meet Murat and Tamar and follow their descendants as we move to a seaside village in Israel, Nazi-ocupied Paris and end in modern-day Manhattan. The Debt of Tamar becomes an engrossing tapestry linking love stories, five generations of history, and the philosophical complexities of the 'Sultan's Curse." We gain awareness of the mystical idea of love's ability to triumph even after Tamar and Murat are gone. Nicole Dweck's theory of cosmic balance -- how one act/decision can alter people's lives in the present and the future -- becomes the key to solving the puzzle.
