The Nefesh After School Religious Studies Program 2021-2022

The Nefesh program will be continuing for the 2021-2022 academic year! Nefesh is a program geared towards students in grades K-6. It is designed to provide students with an opportunity for supplemental education in Jewish holidays and practice, spirituality, Torah study that is textually-based, an encouraging learning environment, and a positive student-mentor relationship.

The program is divided into two courses:

1)  Jewish Holidays, calendar, and Jewish law (Halacha).  Parsha (weekly Torah portion) may be included, time permitting each session.  This class will meet in person at Congregation Beth Tefillah by Morah Aliza Goldenberg on Thursdays from 3:30-5 PM. Masks are strongly encouraged.  Classes begin on August 26th.  Grades K-4.

2) Chumash.  This class focuses on skill building and content.  This program meets virtually twice a week for half hour sessions and is divided by age group and skill level.  Students will meet either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday after school.  Classes begin the week of October 4th.  Grades 2-6.

Nefesh is open to all families at Pardes and other schools.



Program Dates:

Jewish Holidays: Thursdays, August 26-December 16, EXCLUDING: September 9, September 16, and November 25.

Chumash: Beginning the week of October 4, specific dates TBD.


Program Fees


Fees for the Nefesh program cover the cost of professional fees, books, and supplies and are listed below.  Registration is open at the moment only for the Holiday/Halacha class.  Chumash enrollment will be available in September.

$300 (CBT Member), $350 (CBT Non-Member)

Sibling discount of $25 for each additional child.  


Please complete a separate registration for each child.

No family will be turned away for financial reasons.

In case of medical or surgical emergency, I hereby give permission to the physician selected by a representative of the Nefesh Program to hospitalize, secure treatment for, and to order injection, anesthesia or surgery for the applicant named.  All attempts will be made to contact parent beforehand.

I certify that my child listed above is physically able to participate in all activities that are in conjunction with the Nefesh Program for the period commencing August 2021 through December 2021.

I hereby release Congregation Beth Tefillah, Goldenberg Learning, Ariella Friedman, and allied organizations, their agents and employees from any and all liabilities of any nature whatsoever that may arise from his/her participation in any related activity, including illness or medical consequences related to the covid pandemic.
