The Shalhevet program seeks to honor Rabbi Steinsaltz' memory by creating a community of students from around the world, connected in their Jewish learning. Shalhevet is a virtual learning program that pairs Israeli yeshiva students from the Tekoa Steinsaltz post-high-school Yeshiva with learners around the world. This program is open to men and women. Pairs will study materials from one of three pre-selected tracts, with a weekly curriculum that will be tailored to all learning levels, form beginner to advanced. Once a month, all learners from a given tract will join together for a group learning session with a lecturer from Tekoa Yeshiva or other prominent students of Rabbi Steinsaltz. Learners from all tracts will also come together for regular Fabrengens to talk about great Jewish issues.
The program will be run in a semester format:
First semester: starts in November and ends at Chanukah
Second semester: starts in January and ends at Shavuot
Learners are encouraged to join for both semesters and have the option to switch topics at the end of the semester.
